Anyone know what screen Linus has? Looks incredible.
This is why I like Mint. Just easy to use but with Linux capability.
Linus, you were more believable when you did not have the beard and earrings.
You are lucky to have great staff to compensate. Stay out of the picture. Adam is a great Linux guy, I think that linux users are why you are getting the majority of your viewers.
The Waffle House has found Its New host
Luke didn’t technically digitally sign the document. He basically just chose a nice font and typed something, which wouldn’t be a valid signature as it doesn’t match his. Linus was trying to recreate his own actual signature as a documented certificate which he could use on any platform to actually sign the pdf.
You shouldn't need a refresh button, but Linus needs to wash his hair more often.
Anyone know where I can find the wallpaper Linus is using? is it a default Manjaro one?
I just started using Linux and I've learned how messed up the community is
"Well, I bet I'm faster than you at doing this my way than your plebian Windows user way, but hey let me throw you a bone"
What an absolute douche
Isn’t dolphin a Wii emulator?
Preventing root access is the correct thing to do but there should be alternatives then to do what the user needs done. Of course there is also the possibility that the user is trying to do something with root that it should not do and then it's correct to prevent it. Causally switching over to root for every little thing is not a good idea.
Now do it without a GUI
watching this while trying to figure out how to safely transfer a big chunk of data in windows 11, while knowing on gnu/linux I just would use rsync and be done is a little bit funny to me. But yeah 2023 is not the year of the linux desktop 😉 (i know of and used robocopy but apparently is cannot do checksums?)
"a pee dee eff to sign"
lol
the compress. . . is a pass, don't blame the user for the slowness of the computer
Linux Mint Cinnamon is smashing Manjaro KDE.
It's not so wrong saying that you need change your mindset to use linux distro's, once you probably have do the same when you use Mac, the easiest way for sure is start from Linux Mint. Keep in mind the things will be different and you will need to adapt to this changes, and it's not even so hard as were in this serie of videos.
But I'd recommend keep windows in Dual Boot if you are wishing playing a lot of AAA games, because were years of exclusive development in Windows, most of them will work well only windows natively. Or if you use for specifics daily tasks, like 3d modelling for engineering. For the most of others daily tasks, if you keep you mind open for the experience and adapt to change you will never wish to return to Windows again.
A friendly advice : often the big techs soft block linux systems by not supporting properly some drivers, this is more common in laptops, but sometimes happens with some desktops hardwares, that's not linux systems or developers fault.
I have NixOS as my first and current linux distro, it is pain
Hey, at least FAF works on Linux.
Dude, WTF. Are you trying to sign document without private key installed? 😆 This even doesn't work on windows too.
to be fair to linus Arch is super annoying compare to some other distro like ubuntu or debian
I have something simar for installing updates in manjaro. Using the manager dosen't update 'cause they need libs and dependencies, that needs can't be install, why, who knows… just because-.
For other side, Linus, you need to see all the window belove in the left corner you always have the pogress bar for each sip file you trying do. 🙂
Also printers, linux is the king… until you need to configure the sheet lines or any advanced config.
Linux for me is like windows for gamers
I am developer and i hate windows bcz had so much issue with my line of work, take gnome-terminal vs cmd/powershell for example, cmd is like 20 years old and can't keep up with linux terminal..
well if you are linux user and you know how to use it, you can almost run most games on linux with many tools, like wine etc..
at the end working with linux is easy as the user knowledge of linux
I am in my 1st year of Linux-life. I am still in hybrid mode with my work PC in Windows 10 and my home PC on Linux Mint. Seeing Linus's pains confirms my notion that if the distro is not right, it's gonna be a nightmare. I used to use Ubuntu and Lubuntu, but now I use and love Mint. It's just painless. I have a new build, I want to try Zorin.
Linus has a way of making things way too hard, overthinking things. Linux users may come off as arrogant but Windows users can come off as entitled crybabies too. Your stuff works because you PAY for it to work. Linux is made for free you ingrates…
Linux is so weird. First thing i want to succeed is nvidia driver and its so confusing xddddddddddddd
That's my main issue with Linux. The bad eggs hate newcomers and get really pissed when people don't want to be forced to use a terminal for something that could be done in half the time by just using a mouse.
I've been using Linux as my daily driver for almost a decade now, and I totally agree with your assessment of the good and the bad of our community.
As a long time Windows user who had to learn how to use RHEL for work, I can say that each has their pros and cons. Windows OS is second nature to me, so many tasks come easier for everyday use. However, when developing software using the Linux terminal is great. It helps me to easily move between the files and folders that I need. Bottom line is that you should learn both if you can and be able to apply the knowledge to make your life easier based on the task that you’re working on. The video was fun to watch as someone who went through many of those Linux growing pains when starting my career as a software engineer.
I think Anthony should have made this list not James tbh
Moral of the story. Don’t use Manjaro, use Mint 👍
Even as an experienced Linux user, most distros are honestly not intuitive at all. No one can expect the 40yo office worker to get into a non Intuitive system. And yea, compared to most distros, windows is very intuitive and takes a butt load of work off of your shoulders. But only as long as you try to do "normal" stuff.
4:43 confused why you immediately started searching for how to sign when the app literally provided a link for you to read on how to do it. I swear Linus, you are purposely making things hard to make things look worse than they are. At this point I am truly starting to believe Linus just hates Linux and wants to make it look bad as he isn't willing to do the simplest of things and you know damned well he has spent 100's of hours in Windows troubleshooting how to do things. 25:55 Are YOU self-aware enough to understand how many hours you have spent getting things to work in Windows? Seriously. So Linux doesn't work like Windows, therefore it isn't user friendly for them and they won't go to it. If you don't see the benefits, then don't use it. Shrug. Personally, I prefer not to have giant corporations like Microsoft literally spying on everything I do, collecting that data, and profiting from it while invading my privacy and telling me what software I can and can't run on my own computer and charging to do it. If that isn't enough motivation for you to learn something new and you expect an open source developed software to work exactly like proprietary software, then just stick with Windows. For those of us who actually understand the benefits, it is worth learning how to do things differently. To each their own. But, honestly, I think you went out of your way to discourage people from even trying it. If you don't see that you were biased when it was quite obvious you were, I don't know what to tell ya. Not being a fanboy here, just stating facts. I could care less if you choose to use Linux or not. It is discouraging seeing someone with such visibility not really giving it the credit it deserves though, but again, to each their own.
More linux PLZ
Wait. Wait. Wait. Are you telling me that when I get sent a contract in PDF format I don't have to print it, sign it, scan it then email it!?
I use Linux Mint CINNAMON 19.3 (Tricia) 64bit as my OS of choice but I realize I will have to fine a upgrade to a new version soon.
If you are in a GUI right click the item and look for Open As Root and that is that.
Linux Mint can make the most of the AMD 3995x
You can sign using a 2048 RSA Signature
its funny how I had twice the FPS on minecraft on linux
I pulled up this video just to see what luke used for pdf, but my pdf form was unsported by sejda. rip
